Presentations Spotlight

Teaching LabVIEW at NO Cost – The CTI by Nancy Henson

The LabVIEW Community Training Initiative (CTI) lets you teach LabVIEW anywhere for free, with optional hardware. This session offers a quick overview and a deep dive into training materials, exercises, hardware, software drivers, and supported protocols—with easy downloads. Whether you teach at a university, build DIY projects, or want to contribute content, demos, or firmware, there’s something here for you. Fabiola will join to help answer your questions. If you saw the March “This Month in LabVIEW” on the CTI, this session will be more structured and focused on your needs and interests.

Beyond the State Machine by Tim Streeter

This presentation introduces the Behavior Tree for LabVIEW framework, a powerful alternative to traditional state machines for managing complex process logic. Aimed at experienced LabVIEW developers familiar with object-oriented programming (OOP), this session will cover the fundamentals of behavior trees and explore their practical applications and benefits.

Teaching of Manufacturing Engineering for the 21st Century Engineering Student by Paul Briozzo

The presentation focuses on how; LabVIEW, conventional manufacturing engineering methods and CAD\CAM methods have been integrated into a coherent teaching methodology delivered to mechanical and mechatronic students enrolled at the University of Sydney’s School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronics. Four lenses are used (educational theory, autoethnography – teacher and peer reflections combined with student feedback) to describe current outcomes for future unit of study delivery paradigms.

Practical Unit Testing in LabVIEW by Brett Percy

Unit testing in LabVIEW can be tricky—especially when your code depends on instruments, DAQ devices, or other external hardware. While most resources focus on simpler cases, we can still apply lessons from abstracting databases and network connections. Fortunately, the LabVIEW community offers a range of tools to fit different needs, from NI’s Unit Test Framework to JKI’s Caraya and Astemes’ LUnit. In this session, you’ll learn how to effectively use these tools, even if you’re not a test-driven development (TDD) purist. Unit testing can bring real value to your projects—no matter your style or application.

Exhibition Space

In 2025 we have expanded our exhibition space. Most of our sponsors will be exhibiting this year, which will give attendees an opportunity to learn more about NI / Emerson, and the other NI Alliance Partners about how they can help organisations with their test and measurement challenges. Please make some time during the breaks to introduce yourself to each exhibitor
